Eligibility
To become a certified child care provider in Maryland, the participant must meet all current requirements.
- Eligibility to Work: The Participant affirms that they are legally eligible to work within the United States of America.
- Background Check: The Participant agrees to undergo a thorough background check to ensure compliance with the safety standards required for child care providers. This check will include but not be limited to the following disqualifications:
- Offenses involving children, cruelty to animals, domestic violence, weapons, or firearms violations.
- Any sex offenses.
- Violent crimes that are classified as felonies, including physical assault or battery.
- Abduction, kidnapping, child or adult abuse, unattended child confinement.
- Illegal substance manufacturing, distribution, or dispensing.
- Perjury, pornography, reckless endangerment.
- Felonies such as murder, spousal abuse, arson.
- Any history of child abuse or neglect.
- Health Requirements: The Participant must meet all health requirements as mandated for child care providers in Maryland.
- Educational Requirements: The Participant must possess a high school diploma, a GED (General Education Development) certificate, or have completed credit courses from an accredited college or university.
- Age Requirement: The Participant must be at least 18 years of age at the time of enrollment in the Program.
- Not Currently Employed In A Maryland Child Care Program. Our objective is to attract newcomers to the field of early childhood rather than simply shifting individuals from one program to another.
